Fashion Tutorial- How to do the purrrfect cat eye.

Okay, before I start this fashion tutorial, I wanna give a special meow to those of you that read and like my stupid little blog :3 snaps and catnip! But before I go straight up catlady on y'all, let me get to the tutorial. Have you ever wanted to know how to do a cat eye that would make Frida Kahlo do a double take of that masterpiece? Well you're in luck since anybody that knows me knows that I wear one on a daily basis!

Materiales!
1) An angled "liner brush". I honestly use a skinny, non angled brush, but its whatever floats your boat!
option 1
Option Dos!
& Option 3/MY personal favorite

Bee Tee Dubz, you can purchase all of these brushes at target & if you're resourceful enough, a skinny paintbrush from your local craftstore will definitely work! (fun fact, for the longest time, I used extra paint brushes to do my makeup before I caved in and bought makeup brushes).
2) GEL Liner (I personally like to use Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Liner in 'Black Ink', which costs about $22, but it will last you a lifetime, I promise! There's also Maybelline's Gel Liner which costs about $8, which I also like!)
-You COULD use a pencil & rub it on your angled/straight brush, but I think that's pretty stupid due to the additional steps and doesn't look as precise as the gel liner.
3) ALSO, liquid &felt tip liners will work as well, but I personally think the gel has a better finish.

Okay so this is what you're going to do!
1) take your brush, dip it in your gel (I personally suggest swirling it in the gel as if your were dipping an ice cream cone in sprinkles)
2) starting from the CORNER of your eye, line your eye as you normally would, except you should make your line thicker when you get past the center of your eye as if you were drawing a ramp/ triangular shape (does that make sense)
3) Now that you have that line, place your brush (possibly refreshing the gel) at the highest point your want your wing to reach (lets make that point HIGH! The bigger the wing the closer to God right?) & move downwards to the normal line. You'll probably have to move at an angle.
4) fill in any spots you might have missed
5) Add mascara and youre DONE!

Now pat yourself on the back while you look at how awesome your makeup is! If it was an epic fail (which I doubt), just wipe off all of your flaws using Neutrogena (or whatever your brand is, I just swear by this particular brand) makeup wipes and correct them :)

now I'm leaving you with my current favorite song, "Treasure" by that perfect Bruno Mars (btw, i'm a big time fan of his and will be buying his cd on Tuesday!)

Pimp my calculator!

Hai my fabulously frugal fashionistas! I'm sorry that I've been MIA for like ever! I'm going to try my best to keep up with the blog because I just joined the cast of my high school's production of LEGALLY MUSICAL (thats legally blonde if ya didnt know!). I will be playing Brooke Wyndham ;) so I wont have a lot of time. but here's a quick tutorial I thought you all might like.

OK so as you all may or may not know, I'm currently taking ap calculus -__________-. And when you take AP Calculus you are required to have an over-priced Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator (TI 83 Plus REPRESENT, it was cheaper than the TI 84, ayeee). And as boring as AP Calc may be, I found a way to make life easier :) BEDAZZLE YOUR CALCULATOR COVER

OK so this is what you're going to need.
Bucket O' Bling (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kids-Crafts-Bucket-of-Bling-Assorted-Acrylic-Jewels/17753258) this is what I'm referring to..
A hot glue gun
Your graphing calculator (or a standard scientific calculator)
IMAGINATION.

Okay, so here's a picture of what I sort of mean..
but completely covered :D
Dizerections!
-Take the cover of your calculator and sit it on a shopping bag/towel to protect your work area
-while your glue gun is heating up, lay out your gems in the pattern you want and take a picture of it using your camera phone.
-glue the gems on & clean up your calculator for excess hot glue :)
-ENJOY.

Minnetonka Boots.

Guess who's back, back again, SKY is back, tell your friends!

HELLO MY LOVELIES! Sorry for my longterm hiatus, but I'm back and ten times harder! I bet you're wondering what cute tutorials I have waiting for you, but today is going to be a review of my latest purchase. Y'all are going to be upset about my latest purchase, but I honestly think it was worth it.

see these GORGEOUS babies? Well these are the Minnetonka Fringe Boots <3. I think they are going to be my ultimate winter/summer/spring/fall accessory! I bought them in August, and I cannot stop wearing them! They're stylish, comfortable and can adjust to any temperature. They keep me nice and warm in the cold, and don't make me feel like a bear is chillin by my feet on a warmer day. There are only two cons with these boots : 1) the price (which really isnt that bad, but since its not a luxury material like leather $89+ seems a bit extreme) and 2) the sizing. Okay I normally wear a size 7, but I had to go up to an 8 in order to properly fit these shoes, so if you get them be weary of this.

SPIKED SHORTS.

Hey everybody! :) So remember those spikes I told you about? Yeah well I made some shorts with them!

Materials
-Scissors
-Spikes
-Your Camera Phone
-OPTIONAL tailor's chalk &Screw driver

this is what you do:
ok, so first you're gonna just lay your spikes on your shorts in the pattern that you're gonna screw them in. After you do that, take a picture of it! Then using your scissors, poke TINY holes in the right spot using the picture as a reference point so that you can now screw those spikes in (make the screws extra tight using a screwdriver). When you're done, go flaunt your hot new shorts!

PS- instead of taking a picture, you can mark off the spots where your spots are gonna go using the tailor's chalk.

Intimate Moments: Football game fashion

Okay girls, I know that school is back in session, which means it's football season!! Ok, I just wanted to sit down right quick and discuss the do's and dont of what you shall and shant wear to a game.

Shall:
Okay, it is okay to wear denim shorts, jeans, yoga pants, heck even skirts and dresses are cool, just nothing too fancy.
Fringed tee shirts are AMAZING. I even have a blogpost on how to make one right here http://fashionsonadime.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-about-you-do-it-yourself-fringed.html
sneakers, sandals (might get kinda itchy on the grass tho), pretty much anything FLAT.
JERSEYS, duhh

Shant:
-HEELS. ermegerd, I cannot express how much I hate when girls wear heels in inappropriate settings.
-fancy clothes - ok you're here to watch football and socialize, not go to the opera.
-white- football games are so gross, its just asking for a bottle of resolve
-expensive jewelry- yeah, thats exactly how you get that junk stolen

So here's the skinny:
while I AM pro-doowutchalike, I'm also anti-wear-stuff-in-the-wrong-setting so dont think I'm contradicting my POV here, just being sensible.

love peace & do your homework!

Fashion Icon: the conscious rapper of the 90s

Ookay, y'all may or may not know this, but I LOVE conscious rap (Asher Roth, Lupe Fiasco, De La Soul, Q Tip, Pharcyde, Arrested Development, Common, Nas, etc). Dont get me wrong, I like a good dose of Eminem in my life, but these types of rappers just do something for me. I'm not just in love with their conscious lyrics, but their crazy fashion! Its a mix of blipster, skater, afrocentric and hippie all in one big ball! It was a very zany sort of look! Google some of those artists and you'll see.. googled yet? Haha crazy right? I'm gonna tell you how to get that style (in a girly way of course)

UP TOP.
Tanks, Tunics, Varsity Jackets, Oversized or fitted Tees, Surplus jackets, crop tops, whatever!

BOTTOMS.
Skinny Jeans, and leggings. You could probably get away with shorts (with tights in the winter) if you'd like!

SHOES, errmegerd.
High Top Chucks, Vans, Wedges, Flip Flops

Accessories
Chunky Dookie Chains, Africa Medallions, Wooden Beads, Bamboo Earrings, long feather earrings, multi finger rings. Keep your jewelry kind of "earthy" looking I guess, haha, but you can have SOME flashy stuff.

Makeup.
Doowutchalike, I cant tell you how to wear your make up

Hair.
Same with hair, its your preference.

^^ "Runnin" by The Pharcyde is one of the best hiphop songs i've ever heard in my life. While its not as funny as "Ya Mama" and "Pack The Pipe", its a more jazzy, mature sounding track that makes you think (both the song and the video honestly haha)

How About You DO IT YOURSELF : cutout skull tees

WOW, isnt this shirt amazeballs?? Well I'm gonna show you how to make it! This is what you're gonna need:
-Scissors
-tailor's chalk (or you could use a marker, but I'd suggest tailors chalk since it IS cheap.. you could probably even use regular chalk, but I've never tried using regular chalk so if you do, tell me how it worked out for you!)
-A flat surface
-A shirt you dont mind cutting up
-you dont really need it but here's a template if you WANT it. http://images.coplusk.net/project_images/37637/image/full_skull1.jpg THE OTHER HALF http://images.coplusk.net/project_images/37638/image/full_skull2.jpg
-IMAGINATION
-whatever other doohickies you'd like to add :3

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO.
-either sketch out where you're going to cut, or use the template & trace
-cut out your holes
-I suggest stretching where you cut so you can hide any uneven spots
-wear the heck out of your shirt!

Okay that was a REALLY easy tutorial, I'm pretty sure I KNOW that you can do it :-)

How to Wear It: Baggy Band Tees

Hiyah dolls!
So I found the CUTEST way to wear baggy tees! Its a more punk look, but I promise you will like it !

This is what I did:

Okai, so this is how it all went down. I rolled the sleeves a couple of times, then I tucked it in to a pair of short black shorts. Then I layered it with a bunch of necklaces I had laying around! Then around the shorts (like you'd normally wear a belt) I had a skinny, tan, braided belt! Then of course I put in some earrings (they were these huge rose studs I got from Aldo, it was like $10 for 3 pairs ^-^). As for shoes I just threw on a pair of toms (I really wanted black chucks or vans though) because those were the first pair I saw lol #LAZY! then I just put on my fringe cross body bag! Very punk and boho chic!

Get The Look: Geek Chic

Salutations my dorky divas ;-) today's blog post is sponsered by the letter G, as in Geek Chic!

Okay, okay, I bet you're wondering "why the shnuff is this girl telling me how to be a geek?" Well, since I am nerdy & I do love fashion, I am an expert & I'm showing you how to be a cute nerd :-P

1) Wear your hair however you'd like to. IDC if you have braids, an afro, a gumby fade, it don't maaaake any difference to meeeee! (shoutout to Kevin Michael & Wyclef)
2)Buddy Holly glasses! Or your regular glasses if you wear them ;-). My prescription glasses are Buddy Holly so its a double brownie points situation! BTW you can get fake ones from Claires, Icing, Hot Topic, or your local mall's sunglass kiosk.
3)COSBY SWEATERS!!! Oversized sweater that look like the 80's puked on it are PERFECT! The original Cosby sweaters are Coogi, but that doesnt mean yours has to be! Thrift shop, or if you're as awesome as I am, buy a men's sweater!
4) Video Game inspired tees, or tees with dorky references are TOO TRILL.
5) Leggings & Skinny Jeans - They look amazeballs with those oversized sweaters & tees.
6) Converse, Vans & Moccasins oh my! - High top chucks with leggings & skinnies <3 Vans and skinnies <3 & when it comes to my shoe game, I'm a total hippie, so anything like moccasins is my favorite thing in the world! They feel like slippers & make me look like I buy rice pudding in bulk (which I do).
7) add whatever makeup, accessories, etc, just DOOWUTCHALIKE!

Here's a song from the hottest nerd ever, Pharrell Williams :-) he's from Virginia just like me & he's weird <3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2474_-t7aLs&feature=related

I'd love to talk more, but I gotta go now!,

Is It Worth Buying?: Maybelline Baby Lips

Hey there dollies! This blog post is going to be super short, but full of important information!
Okay, so the other day I was in target & saw this lip balm called "Baby Lips". I had seen the commercial once & thought to myself "hey, its only $2.97, why not try it?" Boy am I glad I did that!!! I frickin EL OH VEE EE this stuff! It feels so good, softens the lips & it smells like fruity pebbles! I have the one in the blue tube because it doesnt have any color, but I am not opposed to trying those! I'm saying get this stuff because if you wear lipstick, odds are that your lips are uber dry! When I wear lipstick I like to wear a bit of lip conditioner or lip moisturizer underneath it, especially since I wear matte colors. Even if you dont wear lipstick, GET IT! Y'all know how cheap I am & if I'm saying buy this, you KNOW its gonna be a pretty dope product #swagswagwinningswag.

Intimate Moments: Back to School

(smile courtesy of Myrtle Beach)
HELLO THERE MY BEAUTIFUL FASHIONISTAS! I'm here to talk to you about a very serious issue: back to school shopping. I know going back to school sucks something serious, but you at least wanna look stunning to a) give your teacher a good impression & b) looking nice = feeling nice, soo let's get crackin'!

First off, DON'T BUY TOO MUCH!
By this I mean, please just buy pieces to start off with, because if you get to school & see that all of those new clothes that you just bought aren't in style, you're gonna get all butthurt and not wear them, having all of these teriffic threads go to waste. If you're like me & don't give a single "put-your-favorite-phrase-here" about what everybody around you is wearing then you can skip this step ;-)

Please try to stay in between your school's dresscode guidelines.
Look, I know that tube top and those denim cutoffs are adorable (sorry, adorbz, lemme stay hip here!) but they're also a one way ticket to Principal Whatchamacallit's office. I've had it happen to me numerous times & I know how much that sucks (I had to wear my hoodie around my waist once, EW). I'm not saying to buy legitimate granny clothes with the little kitty cat embroided, but invest in some sort of cardigan/jean jacket, tights (fishnets are so CUTE) & camisoles. Or you could just buy cute clothes that don't look like something you'd wear on friday night.

Please stop buying heels!
OMG, you don't know how many grown behind girls I've seen stomping around in heels. It looks ugly and that noise drives me BONKERS!! Buy some comfortable shoes that will get you from class to class. This is my third year of high school so at this point, I'm not worried about looking mature, but you dont need high heels to do that! Heck, I've gotten through just fine wearing vans, sandals & Ugg boots.

Don't be afraid to take some fashion risks!
Every year, I LOVE taking some sort of fashion risk! It shows that I'm not afraid to be me & that I honestly don't care what others think about my clothes. Look, I'm not saying you should dress like a scene kid, but try something you would never do. Buy a crazy piece of jewelry (for me, it was HUGE spikes, now I'm addicted), colored jeans, neon shoes, or even better, something you made yourself!

Shop with friends!
If you're one of those people that thrive off of the acception of your peers, this might help boost your confidence! A good friend would say "umm yeah, I hope you don't like that", but a bad friend would be a yes man! If you don't care about that kind of stuff, just bring a friend along so you wont be lonely. If you have a self conscious friend, PLEASE GO WITH THEM! You can be that one person that gives them tough love about that rainbow colored poncho & you can give them suggestions!

LOVE YOUR OWN CLOTHES
When your shopping (even with your friends), make sure that YOU love your clothes. I don't care if every girl is wearing neon orange space boots, if you think they're hideous, DONT BUY THEM JUST BECAUSE THEYRE POPULAR!

Most importantly, PLEASE FOCUS ON SCHOOL.
I know looking totally delicious is the best thing ever, but when you graduate, your dream college isn't going to care about how hot you looked throughout high school, they're gonna be looking at your grades & exrtacurricular activities!

Here's your song of the day , "I Can" by Nas ;)

How about you do it yourself?: Galaxy Pants

Hey guys! Ya see these GAWGEOUS jeans? Well, during my trip to Atlanta (to visit the fam), I went to Urban Outfitters with my aunt (for inspiration OF COURSE) & saw a pair for about $65! Since I'm extremely cheap, I was like "psssh, I can make these for $20!". Now I'm gonna tell you all how to do this lovely look!

This is what you're gonna need!
-BLACK jeans (or a REALLY dark wash, but I'm talking uber dark)
-Bleach and a Spray Bottle (buy one at Sallys for NOTHING, or just use that leftover body splash bottle you have sitting under the sink).
-Blue, Purple, White and whatever other colors you might like of fabric or acrylic paint. Both will work
-a sponge
-water
-something to lay the jeans on while you're working
-a teeny tiny brush, a tooth brush, or a brush with bristles.

OKAY, now this is what you're gonna do:
1) Mix bleach and water, and spray it on random spots on the jeans, but try to spread them out. The bleach should turn a rusty orange color (it doesnt take a lot of time to show up, spray some more if you want it deeper)
2) Around the bleach spots, take your sponge and spot the purple and blue acrylic paints around them in like cresent shapes (does that make sense? if not, *in my best Snooki voice* IM SORRY)
3) dip your brush of choice in that white paint and make little spots as stars. (you could run your finger over the bristled brush to "flick" the color on the jeans, or if you're more patient than I am, make the dots with a tapered brush)
4) LET THIS SIDE DRY, then do it on the backside.

BONUS STUFF: if you'd like to, add chains, studs, slits, cuffs, whatever you're heart desires!

& here's a special song for my dorky divas :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjMNNpIksaI

MUCH LOVE, You're beautiful, cats go meow, whatever else you'd like me to say,

Get The Look: 90's Grunge (Summer Edition)

Hey there my cheap chic chicas! :-)
The word of the day is "grunge", can you say it with me? GRRRR-UNNNNN-GE. Good job!

HISTORY OF GRUNGE FASHION:
Back in the early 90's, a new style of music called 'grunge rock' emerged from the state of Washington! It was introduces by groups like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and of course Nirvana! In addition to this dope new style of music came an "I don't give a care" type of attitude and the style that I'm about to talk about :3

Now, how do I dress like that?
Well there really aren't any set "rules" for the grunge look, except for don't put too much effort into trying to accomplish the look, nobody likes a poser ;-)

Tops

First off, a nice wife beater would be a good choice, preferably a WHITE one, but if you don't have one, don't fret ;-)

I got a bunch of tanks from Papaya for $4.99, but if you don't mind wearing a spaghetti strapped camisole, they're only $2.99!!!

A basic tee shirt would be a good choice as well! Again, like the previous suggestion, I only suggest white, but you can wear whatever color you want, but you do get bonus points if you can find a really nice band tee!
Basic tee shirts at Target are only $8.00 !

DENIM VESTS! OMG, if you add one of these to your look, then you're just adding that crazy cool addition (a cutoff flannel would be pretty hot too, since its too warm out for one). They can get pretty pricey so I'd suggest that you make your own! I can do a blog post about it later if you'd like, but all you have to do is cut the sleeves off of a denim jacket! THAT EASY :-)

Bottoms!

High waisted shorts ! Okay, the most common form of cutoff shorts are made by Levi's. I'm going to profess how cheap I am by saying this: although I think they're ADORABLE, there is no way in heck I'm buying a pair off of a whim. I'd have to save up for them in advance & dedicate a fund to it. So instead, I went to goodwill & found a pair of mom jeans (the brand was Lee) & they were really cheap so I just cut them into some nice cuffed shorts :-)

RIPPED JEANS. 'Nuff said ;-)
but seriously, in early grunge fashion, people would were ripped up jeans that weren't early 2000's hiphop baggy & not Lil' Wayne tight, but they were just right. A nice comfortable look, where you didnt have to worry about your pants falling off.

Most stores wanna charge crack prices (Dave Chappelle reference lol!) for ripped jeans when you could simply take a pair of jeans, dampen them, cut slits in the front, or run a razor over them to make them look worn (if you wanted to, you could just do both). Afer, you should pop em in the washing machine, dryer! This not only saves money, but its also SUPER FUN.

Shoes, ohmagad, SHOES!

Combat boots :-)
Doc Marten's are gorgeous & I was fortunate to receive some as a gift a while ago (THANKS MOM), but they really arent that reasonable :-( so instead you can go to Marshalls and find some! I got my short ones for about $20 at Marshalls, or if you're cool enough, go thrift a pair :-)

TAYLOR GANG. <--Ignore the Wiz Khalifa reference, lol. Yeah a nice pair of chucks would be the beez kneez! The low top ones cost about $20, they're pretty cheap!

Dresses!

Thanks to the queen of grunge Courtney Love, the whole babydoll dress with maryjane pumps, and combat boots thing was insanely COOL! I got a babydoll dress from Marshalls for about $25. its blue with a peter pan collar.
