Fashion Icon- Ariana Grande

Okay, unless you've been under a rock or simply don't watch Nickelodeon anymore, you've probably never heard of Ariana Grande. Ariana stars on this show called VicTORIous which I have never watched, but I have heard of the sweet little lady that this blogpost is dedicated to via youtube. There's actually an entire tumblr page dedicated to her style right right hurr , y'all should check it out ;)

ANYWHOO, here's the skinny on Ari's style.
Ariana's style is very cute-sy and girly & from my observations, these are a few pieces I think would go perfectly with her ice cream parlor-esque style.


Bralette Tops - Mkay, so I know y'all are probably thinking that this top is a bit flimsy, but trust me, if you're a bit self conscious about flaunting all ya body, just pair this top with a thigh length cardigan, a blazer, a denim vest or a denim jacket. On the bottom, high waisted pants (Colorful harem pants would be gorgeous), high waisted flowy skirt, or high waisted vintage shorts (think Kelly Capowski, ayeee). If you dont mind flashing a bit of tummy, a pair of aztec leggings (I saw a pair in VS PINK yesterday!), some flattering jeans (trust me, the wrong fit in jeans can give even the skinniest girl a mondo muffin top) or a pretty skirt.


Girly Top- Ariana is such a cutie pie. She is always wearing cute little girly outfits with pretty tops. Go for tops with a bib-like collar and sweet floral prints and pastel colors. I found the most adorable sleeveless tops with bib-collars covered in pearl-like beads at Marshall's. I got one in Cobalt blue, its amazing adorbz.


Flowy Skirts- There isnt much to say about this one, but bright colored skirts matched up with a cute tucked in top is so Ariana, me gusta!


Minnie Mouse Bows- BTW I just came up with that name, I think these bows are so sweet and presh and will make any person look like a cupcake!

Neon Skinny Jeans- Skinny legs, and bright colors! Let's rock it!

 

 

Pumps- We love the girls with the pumps and a bump (mc hammer reference, lol).

 

Cute Phone Case- just a fun bonus :3

SPIKED SHORTS.

Hey everybody! :) So remember those spikes I told you about? Yeah well I made some shorts with them!

Materials
-Scissors
-Spikes
-Your Camera Phone
-OPTIONAL tailor's chalk &Screw driver

this is what you do:
ok, so first you're gonna just lay your spikes on your shorts in the pattern that you're gonna screw them in. After you do that, take a picture of it! Then using your scissors, poke TINY holes in the right spot using the picture as a reference point so that you can now screw those spikes in (make the screws extra tight using a screwdriver). When you're done, go flaunt your hot new shorts!

PS- instead of taking a picture, you can mark off the spots where your spots are gonna go using the tailor's chalk.

Get The Look: 90's Grunge (Summer Edition)

Hey there my cheap chic chicas! :-)
The word of the day is "grunge", can you say it with me? GRRRR-UNNNNN-GE. Good job!

HISTORY OF GRUNGE FASHION:
Back in the early 90's, a new style of music called 'grunge rock' emerged from the state of Washington! It was introduces by groups like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and of course Nirvana! In addition to this dope new style of music came an "I don't give a care" type of attitude and the style that I'm about to talk about :3

Now, how do I dress like that?
Well there really aren't any set "rules" for the grunge look, except for don't put too much effort into trying to accomplish the look, nobody likes a poser ;-)


Tops

First off, a nice wife beater would be a good choice, preferably a WHITE one, but if you don't have one, don't fret ;-)

I got a bunch of tanks from Papaya for $4.99, but if you don't mind wearing a spaghetti strapped camisole, they're only $2.99!!!

A basic tee shirt would be a good choice as well! Again, like the previous suggestion, I only suggest white, but you can wear whatever color you want, but you do get bonus points if you can find a really nice band tee!
Basic tee shirts at Target are only $8.00 !

DENIM VESTS! OMG, if you add one of these to your look, then you're just adding that crazy cool addition (a cutoff flannel would be pretty hot too, since its too warm out for one). They can get pretty pricey so I'd suggest that you make your own! I can do a blog post about it later if you'd like, but all you have to do is cut the sleeves off of a denim jacket! THAT EASY :-)

Bottoms!

High waisted shorts ! Okay, the most common form of cutoff shorts are made by Levi's. I'm going to profess how cheap I am by saying this: although I think they're ADORABLE, there is no way in heck I'm buying a pair off of a whim. I'd have to save up for them in advance & dedicate a fund to it. So instead, I went to goodwill & found a pair of mom jeans (the brand was Lee) & they were really cheap so I just cut them into some nice cuffed shorts :-)

RIPPED JEANS. 'Nuff said ;-)
but seriously, in early grunge fashion, people would were ripped up jeans that weren't early 2000's hiphop baggy & not Lil' Wayne tight, but they were just right. A nice comfortable look, where you didnt have to worry about your pants falling off.

Most stores wanna charge crack prices (Dave Chappelle reference lol!) for ripped jeans when you could simply take a pair of jeans, dampen them, cut slits in the front, or run a razor over them to make them look worn (if you wanted to, you could just do both). Afer, you should pop em in the washing machine, dryer! This not only saves money, but its also SUPER FUN.

Combat boots :-)
Doc Marten's are gorgeous & I was fortunate to receive some as a gift a while ago (THANKS MOM), but they really arent that reasonable :-( so instead you can go to Marshalls and find some! I got my short ones for about $20 at Marshalls, or if you're cool enough, go thrift a pair :-)

TAYLOR GANG. <--Ignore the Wiz Khalifa reference, lol. Yeah a nice pair of chucks would be the beez kneez! The low top ones cost about $20, they're pretty cheap!

Dresses!

Thanks to the queen of grunge Courtney Love, the whole babydoll dress with maryjane pumps, and combat boots thing was insanely COOL! I got a babydoll dress from Marshalls for about $25. its blue with a peter pan collar.

Fashion Icon: Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin West Philadelphia born and raised.... (I triple dog dare you to finish it!)
So if you haven't already guessed, this blog post is dedicated to the funky fresh fashions that were made popular by Little Willie From Philly  on his hit TV show, the fresh prince of bel-air! Since this blog is so new, I think I might have to make this statement solid and in all caps, lol! So here it goes : I AM TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH 90'S NOSTALGIA & NERDY BLIPSTERS. This is due to the fact that 1) I am a product of the 90s and 2) I love what I am, lol ;-) This will be 100% evident in my future posts.

So let's dissect this look one piece at a time :-)

FIRST OFF- The hats!

Oh sweet baby Jesus!! Will always had the stupid hats! They were crazy!!

They were only like $35 (which isn't my first choice, but y'know I MUST have this hat, LOL) but we can't get em >:-(. Ahhhh, I LOVE bamboo earrings, I buy all of mine from Icing by Claire's & they're only $10!! But every time I've been in there, they were 50% off!!!!!

NEXT- THOSE CLOTHES!!

Will wore some crazy day-glo clothing, not like De La Soul status, but y'know funky fresh!

for this, I'd probably wear a phat denim jacket(since its summer, a denim vest would be more practical) and and a t-shirt with the craziest design you can find!

You can find these bad boys at Macy's, Pac Sun, Old Navy, Gap, OR you could just be the crafty individual you are and cut the sleeves off of a denim jacket (one that you dont mind cutting of course).

A tee shirt like this is awesome!! I have one with a blonde girl on it that I got from Zumiez for $20. This shirt is perfect because it's neon, the little girl is fresh to death & its like a throwback to Yo! MTV Raps!! FOR BOTTOMS- Something slim

So for this, we're gonna want a very slim look on the bottom! The best choice would be a pair of yoga leggings (just go to PINK, they're only $34, lol) or some skinny jeans (I SUGGEST TARGET!).

On the fresh prince, Will always had the freshest jordans, but since we are super cheap (or just money conscious, which is 100% okay!) that's not an options!! So how about some Vans?
